Hey, I’m Dan.

I’m a small business owner, lifelong Clayton resident, and community organizer running for Town Council. I believe Clayton needs common-sense leadership that supports local businesses, cuts government waste, and makes investments in building a stronger community for everyone.

I have seen firsthand both the opportunities and the challenges that come with living and working in Clayton. From running a small business downtown to organizing community events, I know how much energy and creativity our residents bring to this town. What we need is leadership that listens, removes unnecessary barriers, and creates an environment where people can thrive.

My vision for Clayton is simple. We should focus on strengthening our neighborhoods, making sure our tax dollars are spent wisely, and building the kind of community where families and businesses want to put down roots. Whether it is improving downtown, supporting parks and recreation, or creating more opportunities for young people, I believe we can make Clayton a better place for everyone.

THE ISSUES

Support for Small Business

As a downtown business owner, I know firsthand the challenges local entrepreneurs face. I’ll work to make it easier to do business in Clayton and create an environment where small businesses can grow and thrive. That means closing the communication gap between Town Hall and the mom-and-pop shops on Main Street, so local businesses have a real voice in the decisions that affect them.

Cut Wasteful Spending

Clayton families are paying more in taxes and fees while town spending continues to grow. I’ll push for accountability, smarter budgeting, and making sure taxpayer dollars go toward real priorities. Not costly mistakes or luxuries that don’t serve the whole community.

Revitalize Downtown

Downtown is the heart of Clayton, and a strong downtown means a strong community. I’ll champion investment in Main Street, support locally driven events, and make sure growth benefits both residents and businesses. We should be building a true music district and an art district, while making full use of our state-of-the-art event center to bring new people into town and showcase all that Clayton has to offer.

Smart Growth & Infrastructure

Clayton’s growth is exploding, but our roads, water, and sewer systems are not keeping up. I’ll advocate for growth that makes sense, protects our neighborhoods, and ensures infrastructure keeps pace with development. That starts with making sure our staff are in constant communication with the county and the state, instead of dismissing regional challenges as “not our problem.”

Our community has been asking for a skate park for years. Let’s build it.

A skate park would give young people in Clayton a safe, positive space to gather, stay active, and build community. It’s not just about skateboarding, it’s about creating a place where kids can belong, parents can feel confident their teens are safe, and families have another reason to enjoy our town together. Investing in recreation like this strengthens our community for the long term.
